Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)
Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2012
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is presented in three main sections; the Introductory Section, the Financial Section, and the Statistical Section. The Introductory Section includes a financial overview, discussion of Iowa's economy and an organizational chart for State government. The Financial Section includes the state auditor's report, management's discussion and analysis, audited basic financial statements and notes thereto, and the underlying combining and individual fund financial statements and supporting schedules. The Statistical Section sets forth selected unaudited economic, financial trend and demographic information for the state on a multi-year basis.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded to the State of Iowa by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011. This Certificate of Achievement for Excellence is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The 2012 CAFR has been submitted to the GFOA to determine its eligibility for another certificate.
