State Accounting is committed to promoting the well-being of Iowans by providing efficient and effective services and resources to all State departments that serve our citizens. These services and resources, which revolve around both the collection and reporting of financial information and the processing of financial transactions, are critical elements needed by the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches to sustain the quality of life that Iowans enjoy.

Did you know? State Accounting issues over 10.8 million warrants for state departments each year; manages an annual $1.50 billion payroll for over 21,000 employees; processes 18 million accounting transactions per year; collected over $25.3 million in funds owed the state by matching more than 80,000 payments made against delinquent accounts in FY09; purchased over $1.55 million worth of U.S. Savings Bonds for state employees in FY09; paid the federal government $127 million in employee income tax withholdings during FY09; manages the Sick Leave Insurance Program (SLIP) for retired employees; and compiles and prepares the state's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), detailing the state's financial position in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
